Wilson's Promontory

This is when things can really get exciting as we now slowly making our way toward Wilson’s Promontory via Lakes Entrance and the Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park. Lakes entrance marks the start of the Gippsland Coastal National Park with a ninety mile beach and very long and thin sand dunes that are still relatively unspoilt to this day. However to fully appreciate this park, you need a boat as it’s the only way to really explore this area, so it’s time to jump back in to the campervan on your way down south!

Wild Koalas at Raymond Island Wild Koalas at Raymond Island – don’t forget to stop at Raymond Island as it’s a special place for wildlife and is known as being one of the most concentrated wild populations of Koalas in Australia!

Metung
Metung – if Koalas are not your thing then Metung which is situated on a peninsula on the lake and is a popular destination for those who want a waterside lifestyle. http://www.metung.com

Wilson's Promontory National Park Our suggestion now would be to take a slightly more direct line heading towards Wilson’s Promontory National Park as you are in for a real treat and you are going to need a few days here to appreciate its sheer beauty. Without a doubt, this is one of Victoria’s top destinations; imagine stunning mountains covered in native forests running right down to beautiful white sandy beaches and to accompany this there are the sounds of the rivers as they make their way down to join the sea.
From the Coastal Road heading towards Wilson's Promontory This is a special place and another favourite of the Travel Wheels team. It’s also a fantastic place to see wild wombats, and they are such lovely animals, it’s well worth walking in the bush and trying to find them, however they might end up find you instead!

WOMBATS & TENTS!
If you are camping remember to close your tent door as Wombats are
attracted to body heat and you may find one curled up beside you in your
tent if you leave the tent door open!
